The next morning the team climbed the peak of Kala Patthar, where they enjoyed one of the best vantage points for a close, unobstructed view of Mount Everest. Later that day the team descended to Lobuche, looking forward to hearty meals and hot drinks.  Stunning views, can also be found particularly at sunrise and sunset at Lobuche. The Kili team has all made it back stateside after a fun and relaxing safari in the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Crater! Along the way they encountered the “Big 5” animals: lions, elephants, leopards, buffalo, and even the elusive black rhino. They also observed giraffes, crocodiles, hippos, zebras, gazelle, several monkey species, and many of the colorful bird species inhabiting the African Savannah. They even witnessed a 20-minute-old Thomson’s gazelle take its first steps.

Between game drives, the team enjoyed the luxurious “glamping” at Serengeti Wilderness Camp, followed by a stay at a five-star hotel just outside Ngorongoro Crater before their flights home. On their drive to the airport, the adventurous team opted to visit Oldupai Gorge, a famous archeological site, and a Maasai Village to learn about the indigenous cultures of the Serengeti. This concludes the September Kilimanjaro Climb + Safari!
