July 18, 2011
While most of the folks in the US are sweltering hot these days, here at Mt Rainier we are having a nice cool July so far. Phil Ershler reports from Ingraham Flats that yesterday they had snow, rain, wind, sleet, and everything in between. It’s a little nicer today, but it sounds like our Northwest Weather will stay cool for a few more days.
On the other side of the mountain Josh Smith radioed in similar conditions from Camp Schurman. They’re scheduled to climb via the Emmons Route tonight.
And over on the East side, our Little Tahoma program was tucked away nicely at 6800ft on the Frying Pan Glacier and didn’t see as much wind as our other climbers higher on the mountain. As of 9am they were at roughly 7200ft moving up to their second camp.
Summer will be here soon…or that’s what the forecasters keep telling us!
