With a flurry of activity the door has shut on the 2017 Mt. Rainier climbing season!
Fall arrived in the last week of September with cold temps and a bit of snow to give Rainier a fresh white coat. IMG’s last climb descended on Saturday in clearing conditions after a cold and windy night. At the same time on Saturday 9 guides headed up to Camp Muir to start the process of taking down camp and winterizing our gear for storage. Camp Muir gets swept by strong winds and heavy snow from now until next May, so everything gets closed up tight, sealed in from the weather and meticulously labeled to wait out the winter. Yesterday our route tear-down crew made a final push up the mountain to help clean up ladders, wands, and fixed line from the route. Huge shout out to all the hard work from the guides this weekend!
IMG would like to extend a sincere “thank you” to all of our climbers this year. It was our pleasure to share the mountain with climbers from around the world over the past 5 months. We hope you all had an amazing, unforgettable experience.
