Today is the Tibetan New Year holiday of Losar, celebrated by our Sherpas in Nepal. Now that our airfreight shipments of food, gear, and oxygen have all arrived and been packed up, our Nepal team has been packing up the food and gear which they are purchasing locally. Ang Jangbu reports that once all this local food is packed, the plan is load a truck and send all the loads by road to Phaplu this next week (Phaplu is about 80 miles east of Kathmandu, due south of the Khumbu). From Phaplu it will all be flown up to Syangboche (3780m /12,400ft above Namche Bazaar) by the big Russian MI-17 helicopter, and from there is goes by yaks to Everest Base Camp.
