Max reports that the team had a great day today. The weather cleared up nicely and there was a little snow up near the summit from the rain yesterday. After departing the Barranco Camp at 13,000 feet the team ascended the steep trail up the Barranco Wall to the gorgeous viewpoint below the Southern Glaciers (or what is left of them). From there the trail is up and down as it traverses what is one of the most spectacular parts of the entire climb, finally reaching the Karanga Camp which is also about 13,000 feet. Great acclimatization! This puts them in perfect position for an easy day tomorrow up to the Barafu high camp at about 15,000 feet. The plan is reach that in time for lunch so they have all afternoon to rest and prepare for the summit day. All’s well on Kilimanjaro!
