We just heard from the Team in Ecuador. It was another great day touring and acclimatizing for the team and I think I will let the photos and summary from one of our teammates do all the talking!
“After an early morning stroll through the Otavalo Market, said to be one of the oldest in South America, the team embarked on their first acclimatization ventures. A beautiful drive through the Ecuadorian countryside led the team to Lago Mujando. The team left the vehicle and started uphill towards Fuya Fuya. A meandering and beautiful hike through the high Ecuadorian grasslands found the team at the summit block of Fuya Fuya. A short 4th class scramble put everyone on top at 13,986 feet. After descending down through the clouds, the team took a quick drive back to Otavalo where they enjoyed a Traditional dinner accompanied by a show demonstrating the Indigenous Cocoa to Chocolate process.Â
Tomorrow the team will continue upwards with a climb of Imbabura (15,109′). This is the 11th tallest volcano in Ecuador! After this climb, the team will move to Cayambe.”
All is well in Ecuador!
