Last Aconcagua Climbs Gets Walking Tomorrow

February 10, 2015

The team.

The team.

Mike Hamill and team have left Mendoza and are making the drive up to Penitentes.  Penitentes is located at the base of a small ski area and is the jumping off point for Aconcagua climbs.  Loads need to get organized this afternoon for the mules.  We’re able to use those mules for the first 3 days to carry all group gear and climbing gear so members can make the approach hike carrying only light packs.  It’s a nice way to ‘break in’ the legs and begin the critical acclimatization process.

The walking begins tomorrow morning.
