IMG guide Erica Engle reports from Kathmandu that the 3 X 3 Trekkers and Lobuche Peak climbers are all in Kathmandu and ready to fly to Lukla in the morning. The big tropical cyclone that hit India over the weekend pushed a bunch of moisture north into the Himalayas, and it has been raining hard for the last several days. In the mountains there has been several feet of fresh snow. Finally, today it has begun to clear and the Lukla flights this morning made it in for the first time in several days…good timing for our team!
Today our crew did gear checks, took care of last minute errands, and enjoyed a team dinner this evening. They will be up at about 4AM for an early departure from the hotel as they are scheduled on the first wave of Lukla flights tomorrow. So far, so good!
