The call came from Greg this morning to tell us that the crew is back safe and sound at the Upper Strip on Denali. Weather should permit a flight out, soon. The crew will be flying with Talkeetna Air Taxi and that first glimpse of green is always pretty sweet. They’re at the Upper Strip because the Lower Strip often gets too rutted out and even has a couple of crevasses as we get later into the season, especially when the weather’s been particularly hot.
The team will be staying in Talkeetna at the Talkeetna Motel tonight, checking out with AMS and the National Park and doing a little gear sort and repack. A shower (or 2) is likely in order as well as a few serious meals and the requisite drinks. Maybe the evening spent in the Fairview Inn, celebrating their success. Priceless.
