href=\"http:\/\/www.mountainguides.com\/wordpress\/2012\/11\/28\/guide-features\/paging-dr-johnston\/\" target=\"_blank\">train Bhutanese doctors in Emergency Medicine<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 I actually spent the month of November in Thimpu, Bhutan\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s capital and location of their largest hospital.\u00c2\u00a0 Phil was just finishing up a trek in Bhutan and we literally missed each other by about an hour.\u00c2\u00a0 He\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s been running trips to this tiny, mysterious, democratic, Buddhist, Himalayan kingdom for about a decade.\u00c2\u00a0 We shared a quick phone conversation rather than a face to face but he told me that he\u00e2\u20ac\u2122d be leading a trek to Sikkim in October 2013 and wanted to know if I had any interest in going back to Bhutan to lead IMG\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s October2013 trip. \u00c2\u00a0Are you kidding?\u00c2\u00a0 \u00c2\u00a0I can\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t wait to get back!<\/p>\n<p>My month in Bhutan last fall was spent largely meeting as many people as possible, making some incredible friends and working with the dedicated physicians and care givers at the Thimpu Hospital.\u00c2\u00a0 However, there simply wasn&#8217;t enough time to explore the mountains of this kingdom known for its incredible natural beauty and commitment to \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Gross National Happiness\u00e2\u20ac\u009d.<\/p>\n<p>I did meet IMG\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s partner in Bhutan, Dendup, and Phil\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s lead Bhutanese guide, Ugyen.\u00c2\u00a0 They\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll be great hosts when we return this October.\u00c2\u00a0
