IMG guide Phunuru Sherpa reports the team had a great day today, and everyone is doing well.  After traveling halfway around the world, doing the duffel shuffle and getting all packed up, it was finally time to hit the trail.  First off was a scenic drive from Moshi up through the coffee, tea, and banana farms on the lower slopes of Kilimanjaro to the trailhead at the Machame Gate, where they met their porters and camp crew. The weather was excellent for their hike up through the rain forest to the Machame Camp, located at about 9500 feet near the treeline.  Tomorrow they leave the forest behind them as they enter the moorlands on their climb to Shira Plateau. All\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s well on Kilimanjaro!<\/p>\n
