IMG Senior Guides, Austin Shannon.\u00c2\u00a0 Everyone arrived in Punta Arenas, Chile without problems.\u00c2\u00a0 Poor Austin, however, had to leave home on Christmas day.\u00c2\u00a0 Guess that\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s just what guides do.<\/p>\n<p>They\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve been furiously food shopping and making final gear checks.\u00c2\u00a0 Today\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s the big briefing with ALE, the flight service.\u00c2\u00a0 Flying 2000 miles to an icy glacier landing strip at 80 degrees S. latitude is fairly logistically involved.\u00c2\u00a0 Exciting as can be, too.\u00c2\u00a0 The team\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s been informed that if weather holds, they\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll be flying to the Ice tonight.\u00c2\u00a0 4 hours in an IL 76, a 1970\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s era Russian military cargo jet.\u00c2\u00a0 Soon as possible thereafter, it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s another 1 hour flight in a Twin Otter over to the actual Vinson base camp.<\/p>\n<p>Everything is moving forward according to schedule right now and we\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re hoping it all stays that way.\u00c2\u00a0 It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Antarctica so everything\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s at the mercy of the weather, but so far mother
