The IMG office has been closed through the holidays, as it should be.\u00c2\u00a0 Now it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s 2010 and time to get back to our expedition postings.\u00c2\u00a0 George was in contact a couple of times from Vinson Massif at 79 degrees south latitude.\u00c2\u00a0 The important thing to know is that all is good.\u00c2\u00a0 The team flew on to the Ice on the 29th.\u00c2\u00a0 Amazing as that was the date scheduled.\u00c2\u00a0 That\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s no small feat when you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re talking about flying 2000 miles to Antarctica.\u00c2\u00a0 It wasn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t long after their arrival at Patriot Hills that they were able to fly another hour and arrive at Vinson base.\u00c2\u00a0 This team is moving right along.\u00c2\u00a0 The carry was made to C1 and now George has notified us that the entire team has completed the move to C1.\u00c2\u00a0 Located at close to 10,000 ft., that\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s great news.\u00c2\u00a0 Better still is the fact that everyone is healthy and doing well.\u00c2\u00a0 Make no mistake, Vinson is a serious undertaking.\u00c2\u00a0 Everyone needs to be continually vigilant.\u00c2\u00a0 At these extreme low temperatures, carelessness results in frostbite or worse.<\/p>\n
George Dunn, team leader and IMG partner, has guides Eric Remza and Helena Coelho from Brazil, with him.\u00c2\u00a0 They are working with a team of 7 IMG climbers.\u00c2\u00a0 With 3 guides, they\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve got a ton of strength and a ton of flexibility.<\/p>\n
\nC2 at over 13,000 ft. is their next objective.\u00c2\u00a0 They\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll be making a carry and then moving up to their high camp.\u00c2\u00a0 We\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll let you know as soon as we hear additional news.\u00c2\u00a0 So for now, all\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s good with the team being right on schedule and firmly ensconced in C1.\u00c2\u00a0 This is great news with which to start the new year.<\/p>\n
