\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Sometimes you eat the mountain and sometimes the mountain eats you.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d\u00c2\u00a0 It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s a good line.\u00c2\u00a0 I think that sums up the day for IMG teams.\u00c2\u00a0 Mike Hamill called in from Plaza Mulas, which is base camp on the Horcones Valley side of Aconcagua.\u00c2\u00a0 They had hoped to take a summit shot this morning but the mountain said no.\u00c2\u00a0 Regardless of the forecasted weather lull this morning, the winds picked up to an easy 60-70 mph, snow fell horizontally and visibility went to zero.\u00c2\u00a0 Even an attempt was out of the question.\u00c2\u00a0 Mike, Leandro and team did a stellar job of keeping their wits about them and got camp taken down, packed up and they descended.\u00c2\u00a0 That was an impressive feat, in itself.\u00c2\u00a0 Great effort and a great decision.\u00c2\u00a0 They\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re safe, warm and ready to hike out tomorrow.\u00c2\u00a0 Heck of an effort and absolutely the correct decision.<\/p>\n
At the other extreme, Greg Vernovage just called in to say that the entire Vinson team was standing on the summit, in absolutely perfect weather.\u00c2\u00a0 No wind, great visibility and in Antarctica, that equates to \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcrelatively\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 warm.\u00c2\u00a0 Sensational effort by Greg, Austin, Gretchen, Doug, Grace, Francois, Brooke, Robert, Chaz and Moselle.\u00c2\u00a0 They will be in Vinson base camp by tomorrow afternoon.<\/p>\n
