(Greg Vernovage)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Luke called on a beautiful evening from Base Camp.<\/p>\n<p>The team made it to the top of Pico Austria with light snow on the way. \u00c2\u00a0On the return to Base Camp, the clouds parted and they could see a little more of a view.<\/p>\n<p>All is well! \u00c2\u00a0The team took the afternoon organizing their gear and will get to bed early. \u00c2\u00a0<span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1767536410\"><span class=\"aQJ\">Tomorrow<\/span><\/span> is the hike to the tongue of the glacier. \u00c2\u00a0From here they will harness up and step into it with both feet and some self arrest training.<\/p>\n<p>They will train in the morning and return for some time to rest.<\/p>\n<p>We are closing in on the first climb now. \u00c2\u00a0Luke said there is plenty of laughter to go around which means they are taking a few deep breaths for acclimatization.<\/p>\n<p>Greg Vernovage<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>August 16, 2014 Luke called on a beautiful evening from Base Camp.
