Elbrus<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Phil called in to report at 3pm his time on Monday.\u00c2\u00a0 They have been hammered by the weather and still no attempt on the summit yet. Tonight they\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll take a last look, and if lucky, they\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll go for it.\u00c2\u00a0 If not, they\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll be forced to descend to the valley and the hotel in Terskol.<\/p>\n<p>Our best wishes for the success of the team!<\/p>\n<p>George Dunn<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Update: August 21, 2012<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Phil called in to report at 3pm on Tuesday, Moscow time.\u00c2\u00a0 The whole team is back down in the town of Terskol.\u00c2\u00a0 They gave it their best try today, got to 17,000\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 before it became too cold and windy.\u00c2\u00a0 The margin of safety just became too narrow to proceed.\u00c2\u00a0 They packed up and headed down to Terskol.\u00c2\u00a0 Tomorrow they\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll spend the day in town, and the next day back to Moscow.<\/p>\n<p>George Dunn<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>August 20, 2012 Phil called in to report at 3pm his time on Monday.\u00c2\u00a0 They have been hammered by the weather and still no attempt on the summit yet.
