One of the many requirements of guides at IMG, is that they acquire and maintain certification as a Wilderness First Responder (or WFR). Every guide goes through a 72 hour course, which covers a wide range of medical issues that could arise in the backcountry. In a WFR course, trainees practice backcountry first aid through a series of realistic \u00e2\u20ac\u0153scenarios.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Once a trainee passes the 72 course, their training is good for two years. That means, every two years, guides have to go through an intensive 2 day recertification course.<\/p>\n

This weekend, IMG Guide, and owner of Sentinel Outdoor Institute, Peter Anderson is at IMG Headquarters in Ashford, teaching a WFR recertification course. In addition to the large number of IMG guides taking the course, there are also representatives from Alpine Ascents, Northwest Mountain School, and EXUM Mountain Guides.<\/p>\n
