Expedition Intro
IMG's success on Everest includes a philosophy developed over these years experience. Recognizing that a "one size fits all" approach does not address the wide range of skills, experience and goals of today's aspiring Everest climber, IMG offers a variety of options for each Everest expedition. Climbers may join the roster as unguided individuals, or they may elect to participate with the direct support of a dedicated personal guide or climbing Sherpa. The 2005 IMG Everest team includes fourteen climbers working under the overall leadership of expedition leader and Everest summiter Mark Tucker, a veteran of five Everest expeditions, and assistant leader Ang Jangbu Sherpa, also an Everest summiter and veteran of over a dozen IMG Everest expeditions. Added to IMG's Everset 2005 roster is 5-time Everest summiter and guide, Dave Hahn. The IMG Sherpa climbing team of 20, led by longtime IMG Sirdar Ang Passang, will work hard to put the logistics in place for a successful summit attempt, supported by the efforts of 10 Sherpa camp and cook staff, including Pemba, our ace in the base camp kitchen of over twenty IMG expeditions. The climbing team will be joined by a group making the trek into Everest Base Camp. A second group of trekkers and climbers will be going on from Base Camp to attempt Island Peak. Several of these clients will then return to Everest Base Camp to attempt the Khumbu Icefall and a once-in-a-lifetime trip up into the Western Cwm. Check back daily for updated information. The IMG Everest team will send daily dispatches via satellite telephone; on summit days, expedition leader Mark Tucker will update readers multiple times per day on the progress of the climbing teams.
